GDC 2014 took place March 17th through March 21st at the Moscone Center in San Francisco. The Game Developers Conference is the worlds largest and oldest professional game industry event. It is for programmers, artists, designers, and others involved in game development. This year, there were 24,000 people in attendance.
I was excited to meet Brenda Romero and John Romero. I studied their work in college and I asked them about how they got to the point where they are today. It turns out there is no secret to their success, just a lot a time put into developing games.

| Brenda Romero |
Brenda said she had worked in the game industry many years before she came out with her first game. She also mentioned how important mentorship was. She had been mentored by David Bradley while working on "Wizardry 6" which helped her to make games on her own.

| John Romero |
John had made over 50 games before "Wolfenstein 3D" and later "Doom" which were influential in creating and popularizing the FPS genre which has dominated the game industry.
Both of them work on games and talk about games from the moment they wake up to when they go to sleep. Great games come from game developers with passion and dedication to their work.
